The aim of this research is to assess how the perception of control modulates the intensity of emotional reactions and the coping strategies choice. Perception of control is conceived as a combination of individual's personal competence and the specific cognitions which appear in different conditions. Three experimental studies in laboratory setting are scheduled in order to analize the reciprocal relation between control cognition, mood states, physicological reactivity and coping. Also, three field studies will be conduct in natural environments to examine the relationship between control perception and adaptation and well-being in health-related problems.
