In this proposal we aim to use some specific tools, already used in other fields of physics and engineering, as statiscal mechanics and complex systems theory, to improve our knowledge upon the characterisctics of the climatic variability that is obtained from paeloclimatic data derived from ice-core from Greenland (Grip data) or rom Antartic (Vostok, Epica). By using statistical tolls we also pretend to iprove our knowledge of the climatic variability forecasts by using downscaling empirical-stastical techniques to relate global climatic variables with local variables of interest as precipitation and temperature. We aim to develop these techniques in a test area, Catalonia, because of its climatic characteristics
