Description
Study of the behaviour of the people in Catalonia in the face of the army during three periods of the Ancien Regime's crisis -1793-95: Convention War; 1808-14: Peninsular War; 1823-27: liberal defeat and restoration of absolutism- characterized by the stay of a French army in the Catalonian country. Four aspects are analyzed: reactions to conscription, to foreign occupation and to economic demands caused by the military presence and the war, and relations between civilian authorities and the army.
