    Personal profile

    Research interests

Over the years my research interests have varied, always in the context of probabilistic models and stochastic processes, from Stochastic Calculus in which I developed my doctoral thesis under the supervision of Dr. Marta Sanz, from the University of Barcelona, to the Probabilistic Classifiers of Supervised Machine Learning, a field within Artificial Intelligence, currently, going through the study of the Fractional Brownian Movement process and its applications, the weak convergence theorems, Interactive Particle Systems, and the study of Stochastic Queuing Systems, both from the point of view of its stability, and of the limit theorems under heavy traffic.

The common denominator of my research has always been probability, and the drift has occurred towards increasingly applicable and applied models. Lately I have worked on the application of probabilistic classifiers (Bayesian Networks) to criminology and medicine, with real databases. Also, in a collateral way, I have worked on the application of probability and statistics to other fields, such as chemistry or ecology.

    Current lines of research:
    • Probabilistic classifiers and other Supervised Machine Learning methodologies.
    • Bayesian networks.
    • Performance metrics for classification.
    • Ensembles of classifiers.
    • Applications of Supervised Machine Learning in criminology, health sciences and other areas of knowledge.
    • Applications of Probability and Statistics, in general, to different areas of study within the field of Sciences and Social Sciences.
