Personal profile

Research interests

I am an Associate Professor of Literary Theory and Comparative Literature at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain). Prior to my current position, I was Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham (UK), and lecturer at Dublin City University (IE).

My research focuses on two main areas: representations of the supernatural in fiction, and literary urban studies from a gender perspective. I am the chair of the international research network Fringe Urban Narratives (urbanfringes.com) and co-director of the Palgrave Series in Literary Urban Studies.

From 2020 to 2025, I led the Ramón y Cajal research project Literary Periurbanities, funded by the Ministerio de Universidades and the European Social Fund. I have also held research fellowships at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS Core Fellowship), the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies (EURIAS/Marie-Curie Co-Fund), and the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris (Liam Swords Foundation Fellowship).
