Research interests
Miranda J. Lubbers is Professor at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain. She is an ICREA Acadèmia fellow (2021-2025) of the Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies, and ERC Advanced Grant holder (2021-2026; European Research Council). Her research addresses social cohesion and social inclusion. In particular, she analyzes the role that formal and informal social relationships and settings have in the (re)production, mitigation, or exacerbation of exclusion (particularly of migrants and people with low or no incomes) and segregation. Her research has been published in journals such as International Migration Review, Social Networks, Global Networks, Human Nature, the Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Sciences, and the European Journal of Social Psychology.
She is an elected fellow of the European Academy of Sociology and associate editor of the journal Social Networks.
