Research interests
Associate Professor of Stratigraphy at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Miquel Poyatos Moré is a geologist with an MSc in Geology and Exploration of Sedimentary Reservoirs (Universitat de Barcelona), and a PhD in Geology (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). After his PhD he took a position of Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Manchester (United Kingdom), and then positions of Postdoctoral Fellow and Researcher at the University of Oslo (Norway).
He has more than ten years of postdoctoral experience in academia, developing industry and government-funded research and teaching/training at graduate and postgraduate level. His main field of research is the study of outcrop analogues for characterization of sedimentary reservoirs, but he is also involved in multi-disciplinary projects which aim to understand the preservation and propagation of environmental signals in the stratigraphic record.
He has given lectures and seminars in sedimentary geology and basin analysis in 3 different universities (Barcelona, Manchester and Oslo), and has supervised 10 MSc and 4 PhD graduated students. He has also participated in the organization of field training programs for the energy industry. He currently has 42 peer-reviewed publications in international journals and more than 100 conference communications.
