Research interests

Lecturer in Stratigraphy at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Miquel Poyatos Moré is a geologist with an MSc in Geology and Exploration of Sedimentary Reservoirs (Universitat de Barcelona), and a PhD in Geology (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). After his PhD he took a position of Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Manchester (United Kingdom), and then a position of Postdoctoral Fellow and afterwards Researcher at the University of Oslo (Norway).

He has nine years of postdoctoral experience in academia, developing industry and government-funded research and teaching/training at graduate and postgraduate level. His main field of research is the study of outcrop analogues for characterization of sedimentary reservoirs, but he is also involved in multi-disciplinary projects which aim to understand the preservation and propagation of environmental signals in the stratigraphic record.

He has given lectures and seminars in sedimentary geology and basin analysis in 3 different universities (Barcelona, Manchester and Oslo), and has supervised 10 MSc and 4 PhD graduated students. He has also participated in the organization of field training programs for the energy industry. He currently has 42 peer-reviewed publications in international journals and more than 100 conference communications.
