    Personal profile

    Research interests

Professor at the UAB since 1997, with a permanent position since 2007. My scientific career draws a growing spiral from a nucleus that is maintained and gives continuity and coherence to each stage: research on diversity and inclusion in a context of societies complex. As director of the ERDISC –UAB research group (research team on diversity and inclusion in complex societies) I have dedicated the last two decades. My research aims have moved from a focus on diversity based on intercultural education to a more complex focus on inclusive education first, and on community education. Since May 2014 I have been the director of the UAB chair of community education, and from this space I contribute to the development of works and publications on family and school, and lately on an intersectional view of gender and culture in collaboration with the Generalitat of Catalonia. I credit 2 research sections by the AQU agency, and 4 teaching sections by it.

I accredit directing and / or participating in 64 research projects, 41 in competitive calls from public bodies, and 23 in non-competitive searches. Of those competitive, 50% are national and the other 50% international. My role as PI in international projects in 7 of them stands out, my participation in 6 Spanish R&D and also in an international project of the V Framework Program of the EU. Of the 23 non-competitive projects, I have been the IP in 13, which represents more than 50%, and 4 of them with amounts greater than 30,000 euros. This is complemented by a research management profile, which began as vice-dean of research of my faculty of education for the period 2002-2005, and which continues as director of the UNESCO Center of Catalonia and president of the Linguapax Institute between 2008-2012 , director of the European educational policy analysis network SIRIUS (European Commission) in the period 2012-2015, and more recently as commissioner of education and universities of the Barcelona City Council between 2015 and 2019.
My activities in international congresses and research networks have been constant. I participate in international congresses in my area ECER (Europe) and ICER (worldwide), and I have been visiting professor at several foreign universities for undergraduate and doctoral courses.

Regarding publications, I credit 199 without counting those resulting from congresses. Of these, 11 are in impact indexed journals, 3 of them of international rank, and 45 in non-indexed journals but which are externally evaluated (in 35 of them as single author). Regarding books, I have 96 works: in 15 I have acted as editor (4 individually and 11 collectively), 19 are complete books (10 of sole authorship and 9 of shared authorship), 1 62 are chapters of book (44 of sole authorship and 18 of shared authorship).

My position as an international scientific consultant and academic expert has been consolidated in the last decade. During this period I have been developing scientific guidance and editing documents for international organizations such as: Council of Europe, the OECD, UNESCO, the Organization of Ibero-American States, the Anna Lindh Foundation or the European Commission, and the Ministries of Education of Ecuador or Mexico. . As an academic expert, I would like to point out my duties as director of 6 theses with students from the USA, Chile, Ecuador and Spain.
