Research interests
Matteo Avogaro is currently a Lecturer (Professor Lector) in Labour and Social Security Law at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
He holds a PhD in Labour Law from the University of Milan, with a thesis entitled “Collective Bargaining and Representativeness of Social Partners in the Private Sector: A Comparative Analysis with the French Legal Framework.”
Throughout his research and academic career, he has held positions at ESADE–University Ramon Llull and Rovira i Virgili University, and has collaborated with the EU Agency Eurofound.
His’s research interests include:
- The evolution of industrial relations and collective bargaining in a digitalized context;
- The challenges posed to working conditions by the integration of AI and information technologies in the workplace;
- Promoting equality between women and men and developing strategies to prevent discriminatory behaviours in the work environment; and
- New legal solutions to strengthen the labour rights of platform workers and solo self-employed individuals.
General quality indicators of scientific research
Matteo Avogaro's scientific production includes more than 40 contributions to national and international journals, and he has presented papers at numerous conferences. One of his papers – entitled “New Perspectives for Workers' Organizations in a Changing Technological and Societal Environment” – received the Marco Biagi Award issued by the International Association of Labour Law Journals (IALLJ).
He has participated in several national and international competitive research projects, including the Horizon 2020 Equal4Europe project, aimed at promoting equal economic independence for women and men in research institutions.
