Degree in Chemistry (1996), Master in Chemistry (1998) and PhD in Chemistry (2002) from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She was awarded a pre-doctoral grant from the Generalitat de Catalunya to carry out research work at the 'Centre for Materials Research' of Kent University, in the United Kingdom. In 2003 she was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to do a postdoctoral fellowship at Tufts University (Boston). She did a postdoctoral stay in the Optical Technologies Group of the University of Zaragoza, a leading group in applied optics. Since 2006 she has been responsible in the Sensors and Biosensors Group of the UAB for the research lines of 'Microfluidic systems for the synthesis of nanoparticles and their use in (bio)analytical applications', 'On-line analytical microsystems based on polymers and LTCC for applications in space' and 'Synthesis and Characterization of cyanine compounds and their use in analytical applications'. Since then she has maintained a close collaboration with Prof. Sergey Miltsov of the Institute of Macromolecular Compounds from the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg, Russia.

She has participated in 21 research projects funded through public calls, of which 5 are technology transfer projects collaborating with various companies. Principal investigator in 3 national projects and 2 competitive European projects of the European Space Agency. She has participated in 13 technology transfer agreements with companies, 5 of them as principal investigator. In them, analytical instrumentation has been developed for application in environmental control and recently, in analytical devices for application in the biomedical field. As a result of these collaborations, she is the author of 2 patents at European level for the companies Devicare S.A and Medcom Advance S.A.

She has 60 publications indexed in JCR and SJR. Of these, 44 are articles published in journals with a high impact index and located in the first quartile of areas such as Analytical Chemistry, Instrumentation, Multidisciplinary Chemistry, Nanotechnology, etc. She also published 1 chapter of a book in the prestigious Springer publishing house. This compendium of articles has 819 total citations, with an average of 57 citations per year during the last 10 years and an 'h' index of 19.

She has participated in more than 90 national and international conferences, and has given more than 30 oral communications, 11 of them invited to international conferences.  She has been part of the organizing committee of the ‘Transfrontier Meeting on Sensors and Biosensors (TSMB 2002)’ congress, was chair of the 2016 edition and co-chair of the 2018 edition as well as the international congress ‘Ibersensors 2018’. She was also part of the executive committee of the renowned international congress ‘European Conference on Optical Chemical Sensors and Biosensors (Europtrode 2012)’.

Shee has 3 periods of 6 years on research work (sexenios) recognized by AQU Catalunya (Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency) and CNEAI (Comisión Nacional Evaluadora de la Actividad Investigadora) from 1999 to 2018 and 2 periods of 5 years on teaching from 2006-2019 recognized by AQU. She has directed more than 15 experimental Master's projects and 22 undergraduate projects. She has supervised 5 doctoral theses and 2 are in progress. She has been a member of the Evaluation Cometee of more than 15 Doctoral Theses.

She has been an evaluator of research projects in 2007 at the Ibero-American Program for the Development of Science and Technology for Development (CYTED) and in 2016 at the Research Council of Norway.

She obtained the Research Accreditation by the regional evaluation agency AQU in 2013 and the Advanced Research Accreditation in 2018, as well as the National Accreditation (ANECA) to access the Associate Professor (Profesor Titular) position in 2015 and to access the Full Professor (Catedrático) position in 2023. She has been Coordinator of the Degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the UAB since 2018.
