The researcher is an Associate Professor of Spanish Language at the Department of Spanish Philology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where she earned her PhD in 1997 with a dissertation on non-continuant obstruents in Spanish. She is co-author of the manual <em>La expresión oral</em> (2000) and the exercise book <em>Prácticas de Fonética</em> (1998).<br />

Her research has focused on the characterization of speech styles, the relationship between phonetics and phonology, and the application of phonetics in oral media communication. She has participated in various national and international projects related to prosody and speech technologies, and has been a member of the European thematic network <em>Speech Communication Sciences</em>, contributing to the volumes <em>The Landscape of Future Education in Speech Communication Sciences</em> 1, 2, and 3 (1997, 1998, 1999).

In addition, she is co-editor of the book <em>Los sistemas de diálogo</em> (2006), published by the Fundación Duques de Soria and the UAB's Servei de Publicacions. She has collaborated on projects linked to academic institutions, such as the Real Academia de la Lengua Española, specifically in the transcription and coding of oral texts for the CREA (<em>Corpus de Referencia del Español Actual</em>).

Currently, she teaches the courses "Expression and Argumentation in Spanish" at the Faculty of Communication Sciences and "Phonetics and Phonology of Spanish" within the Degree in Spanish Language and Literature. She also teaches in the official Master's program in Spanish Language and Hispanic Literature and ELE at the Department of Spanish Philology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.<br />

Until 2016 (the date of the last edition of the program), she also taught in the Postgraduate Program in Phonetic Studies, a joint initiative involving the Phonetics Laboratory of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP).
