Research interests
In July 2018, I completed the Master's in Psychosocial Research and Intervention with an average grade of 9.97/10. Later, I received a competitive FPU grant (FPU17/01545), leading to 6-year contract (due to disability) at the UAB, from October 2018 to September 2024. During this period, I have been working with the AFIN-UAB research group while completing the Person and Society in the Contemporary World PhD program. In October 2023, I presented my thesis "Adjustment to disability as liminal space-time: An analysis through a Critical Disability Studies lens," which received Cum Laude and International Mentions. The thesis includes 5 publications, all indexed in WoS collections. Throughout the FPU fellowship, I have presented my research results at 3 national and 14 international conferences. Additionally, I have undertaken: (a) an 8-month doctoral stay at the iHuman Institute of the School of Education at the University of Sheffield, UK, under the supervision of Dr. Kirsty Liddiard and Prof. Dan Goodley, both international leaders in Critical Disability Studies. (b) (a) an 8-month postdoctoral stay at the Instituto de Filosofía (Centro de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales-CSIC), Madrid, under the supervision of Dr. Melania Moscoso Pérez, a leading important author in Critical Disability Studies in Spain.
I have participated in the development and implementation of three competitive research and/or knowledge transfer projects. Firstly, in 2021-2022, I served as analysis advisor for the project "INVI: Infrastructures for Independent Living: A participatory research to rethink housing, care, and community in times of pandemic," funded by the Barcelona City Council, lead by Dr. Andrea García-Santesmases & Dr. Joan Moyà-Köhler. This has led to a published peer-reviewed indexed paper (JCR Q1) in Sexuality Research and Social Policy. Secondly, I am currently working for the i+D project "Repro-flows in Europe, North Africa, and Latin America: Mobility of people and gametes in the fragmented context of transnational regulation in adoption and assisted reproduction", led by Joan Pujol and Diana Marre (AFIN). In this context, I have explored the reproductive journeys of disabled people, and published a paper with Joan Pujol and Marisela Montenegro in Social Inclusion (JCR Q3). Finally, I am currently involved in the project "Catalonia Innovation Network in Accessibility: Media, Education, and Culture (AccessCat network)" granted by AGAUR and extending from January 2023 to December 2025. This project aims to transfer research results on accessibility.
Parallel to my research activities, I have accumulated 546.5 hours of teaching dedication, mainly leading practical sessions in the context of a first-year Psychology course entitled “The Social Dimension of the Person” (517). Also, I have offered several theoretical sessions as a guest lecturer (33) at the UAB and elsewhere. For instance, since 2018, I have offered a yearly conference regarding the mandatory reading of "Stigma" (Goffman, 1963) for students of "The Social Dimension of the Person”, as well as non-mandatory course in the Master's in Research and Psychosocial Intervention (October 2023), and a Summer Course for UNED entitled “Dis/ability, sexuality, violence and other contemporary challenges” (2023). With Dr. Andrea García-Santesmases, I have coordinated a mandatory textbook for the course “Social work and Disabled People” (UNED’s social work degree). Also, in 2024, I have been certified as Profesorado Contratado Doctor (ANECA, 2023-13726), Profesorado de Universidad Privada (ANECA, 2023-13727) and Professorat Lector (AQU Catalunya, 58QKYNYVU)
Regarding knowledge transfer activities, first, I have aimed to transfer the Critical Disability Studies lens by offering sessions for healthcare professionals from AVAN (October 2018), ARTeneu (December 2022) and Institut Guttmann (between 2019 and 2021). Secondly, I have wroten several dissemination texts in Catalan, Spanish and English. I have also appeared in the media (TV3, May 24, 2021) and offered talks at various cultural festivals, and activist groups (La Terrasseta Festival, Simbiòtic Festival, Ateneu Rosa de Foc; Fil a l’Agulla, Centre LGTBI de Barcelona, Col·lectiu Candela, Associació FemBloc).
As for other relevant merits and activities, since February 2023, I am a Member of the Editorial Board for the Revista Española de Discapacidad. Since 2019, I have been an ad hoc reviewer for the following journals: Journal of Disability Studies in Education; Children & Society; Quaderns de Psicologia; Qualitative Research in Psychology; as well as Athenea Digital. Revista de pensamiento e investigación social. Also, from 2021 to 2023, I have served as a postgraduate student representative on the Equality Commission of the Faculty of Psychology. Since 2021, I am an elected representative of Sector B in the University Senate (Claustre) of UAB and member of the Senate Board. I have accredited proficiency in three languages: Catalan and Spanish: Native. English: C2 (CPE).

Putting emotions to work: the role of affective disablism and ableism in the constitution of the dis/abled subject: By conceptually framing disability under the lens of the Foucauldian apparatus, this work applies Dis/Ability studies to examine the constitution of the disabled subject by exploring how ableism and other axes of oppression (such as ageism and heterosexism) intersect in everyday situations of affective disablism. The article illustrates these processes using four Narrative Productions with men and women who are Disability Rights activists or community rehabilitation services users. A two-pronged analysis which combines structural and subjectivation processes analysis suggests that: i) participants who deviate from the able-bodied norm are constituted as ‘impaired’, ‘immoral’, ‘supercrip’, ‘unproductive’, ‘(un)reproductive’ subjects or as ‘objects of care’ within disablist situations; ii) ableism intertwines with different axes of oppression and; iii) becoming an activist contributes to one’s constitution as the ‘rightful’ subject, although such process is fraught with tensions.
