Research interests
I am a radiation oncologist and have devoted most of my professional activity to clinical practice, while simultaneously maintaining a strong involvement in clinical research. I have participated in studies, clinical trials, research projects, and translational programs, from which my academic output has been derived. I have published work in the fields of clinical, translational, and basic research.
My academic activity has focused mainly on pediatric tumors and head and neck cancer. I have served as principal investigator in international clinical trials, notably the CONCERT and Clonidine studies, as well as the “Bonner” trial, which was published in The New England Journal of Medicine and has accumulated more than 3,500 citations. In many of my studies, I have specifically addressed aspects related to quality control and toxicity assessment. I have led translational research projects at both the national level (FIS PI10/02205) and the international level (ARTFORCE_FP7HEALTH2010 or EURAMED). I am currently involved in the implementation of proton therapy in Catalonia.
