    Personal profile

    Research interests

Jordi Roquer González (Barcelona, February 23, 1974) holds a doctorate in Art History and Musicology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He is an associate professor in the Department of Musicology at this university and also a professor in the Audiovisual Media Degree at TecnoCampus de Mataró (Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona).
He is a member of the MUSC-SSIT Research Group, linked to both the UAB and the TecnoCampus, a group from which he aims to contribute synergies between the fields of musicology, anthropology and music technology. He is also director of the Journal of Sound, Silence, Image and Technology (JoSSIT - UPF). His field of study moves between two great poles: the anthropology of music and music technology, areas from which he has been interested in issues such as the study of the sound discourses of popular music, musical reception technologically mediated or the socio-technological behaviors towards music in contemporary societies. He has published about twenty works on these topics, including articles in academic journals and book chapters. He has participated in thirty congresses and Jornadesi has been an invited speaker in ten national and international congresses and seminars. He has also worked on several projects related to music and technology, especially in the field of sound heritage preservation, directing projects such as the digitization of sound media for the Library Network of the Diputació de Barcelona (2023), the Library National Museum of Spain (2016), the Barcelona Music Museum (2014), the Catalonia Library (2012) or the Mediterranean Museum (2012).
As a musician, he has recorded around twenty records including popular music productions, music for theater and music for cinema. He has given concerts and tours both nationally and internationally, activities that he has always tried to link in various ways to his teaching and research work in the academic field.
