Graduate in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Santiago de Compostela (1994) and PhD in Applied Economics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2000), where she received the extraordinary doctoral award. She has completed research stays at prestigious institutions, including the University of York (United Kingdom, 1996), the Institute for Fiscal Studies (Ministry of Economy, 2001), and the University of Salford (Manchester, United Kingdom, 2017). Since 2006, she has been an associate professor in the Department of Applied Economics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

Her research focuses on Economics and Public Policies, with an emphasis on the evaluation of projects and social expenditure programs, addressing topics such as welfare state policies, aging, educational transitions, and gender equality. She has led and participated in numerous competitively funded projects, including: SUSTAINWELL (HORIZON-CL2, 2023-2027), WELLCARE (APCIN, More Years Better Lives, 2021-2025), WELTRANSIM (APCIN, More Years Better Lives, 2016-2020) and AGENTA (7th Framework Programme of the European Commission, 2014-2017).

She has collaborated with organizations such as the Ministry of Economy, the Institute for Fiscal Studies, the Government of Navarra, and the National Center for Aging Research (CNIE). Additionally, she has been a member of the Spanish team of the international group National Transfer Accounts (NTA) since 2009 and served as an advisor to the European Commission under the open coordination framework (ASISP Network) on pensions, healthcare, and long-term care (2010-2013).

Her scientific output includes publications in high-impact international journals such as Ecological Economics, Journal of Population Economics, International Tax and Public Finance, Fiscal Studies, Population and Development Review, Demographic Research, Journal of Economics of Ageing, Economic Analysis and Policy, and European Review of Economic History. Nationally, she has contributed to journals such as Revista de Economía Aplicada, Hacienda Pública Española, Moneda y Crédito, and SERIEs. She has also authored book chapters, participated in numerous national and international conferences, and contributed to outreach publications.
