    Personal profile

    Research interests

I am currently senior lecturer at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, in the Department of Social Psychology, although I maintain a great academic dialogue with researchers and international centres, especially in Chile.

My line of research focuses on public policies in the educational and epidemiological fields, analysing how these policies land in society and their consequences for citizens who are not experts in political design, but who are daily affected by its implications. In addition, I also investigate the role and roles that society and the different groups that make it up (institutions, government bodies, international associations, schools, laboratories...) play in the definition of technology and its deployment in people's daily practices. As concrete results, I have participated in the parliamentary modifications in the processing of laws on the meaning of the public in education, or in the regulations on school violence of the Chilean government.

Between 2017 and 2020 I was a research professor at the Research Centre for Inclusive Education at the Catholic University of Valparaíso (Chile), where I was also an associate professor. During this period I was awarded a competitive R&D project for which I was PI (FONDECYT 11190195) on citizen participation in public policy and I was co-researcher on another R&D project on public management in childhood and education (FONDECYT 1191015, 2019-2022). Since 2020 I have been a professor at the Open University of Catalonia, with three milestones standing out: 1) teaching across disciplines on the Psychology and Industrial Relations degrees, 2) tutoring students on the practicum and final degree projects, respectively, and 3) the competitive R&D project on teleworking, gender and social sustainability, of which I am a co-researcher (PID2021-12 7076OB-I00, 2021-2025, AEI).

Together, these facts have contributed to an understanding of the role of society and its individuals in social transformation:

    1. At an academic level, through scientific publications (deposited in open access) with different research groups in Chile and Spain and international conferences; which account for the local tensions, contradictions and translations that local schools and communities make of policies. In addition, a final degree project that I supervised won an award for the best social content; I have co-directed two doctoral theses from the Latin American Social Studies programme at the National University of Córdoba (Argentina), as a result of which the doctoral students are now professors at the University of Valparaíso; and I have also published various teaching materials based on the scientific work carried out.
    2. At a political level, for example, through policy briefs and parliamentary discussions where I participated in the presentation of scientific evidence on how teachers, students and management teams understand and take responsibility for laws and regulations.
    3. At a social level, through participation in training with teachers, in activities with the Chilean Teachers' Association, through opinion columns, dissemination of research results in the media, or in direct dialogue with schools and other participants. In all of them, the objective was to engage in dialogue and present scientific results to society in general.
