Diana Berruezo-Sánchez is an ICREA Research Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, where she held full-time research and teaching positions for six years (2017-2021). Currently, she is the Principal Invesitgator of her project The Cultural History of the Black African Diaspora in Early Modern Spain funded by the European Research Council. Her main research interests focus on the cultural legacy of the Afro-Iberian diaspora in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Spain. She has examined the cultural agency of Black women and men, and their collective and anonymous contributions to the literary texts of the period. Also, she has worked on the circulation of early modern literary texts between Italy and Spain, on which she has published extensively. She has obtained funding from the Leverhulme Trust, the John Fell Fund, the Balliol Interdisciplinary Institute and the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation to lead interdisciplinary research projects at the University of Oxford and the Universitat de Barcelona. She has been awarded grants and scholarships from the Ministry of Education, Community of Madrid, Ibercaja Foundation, Agustí Pedro i Pons Foundation. She has conducted research stays in Spain, Italy, the UK, and the US.
