Research interests
Full professor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, has 25 years of experience in the characterization of murine disease models and in preclinical gene therapy trials mainly for rare diseases involving the nervous system and on the elucidation of the molecular mechanisms causing these pathologies combining the use of animal models, iPSC, and viral vectors. In particular, the research group is focused on Mucopolysaccharidosis type VII (MPSVII), Megalencephalic Leukodystrophy with subcorticals cysts (MLC), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Wolfram Syndrome.
A. Bosch spent 5 years of postdoctoral training, first at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (USA), where she acquired experience on different viral vectors for gene therapy, and then at the Pasteur Institute where she was involved on gene therapy for lysosomal storage diseases. After a short stage at the Idibell, she joined the UAB through the 1st call of the Ramon y Cajal program in 2002. She obtained a permanent position in 2006 and a full professorship in 2019 at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UAB. In 2020 she was elected as director of her Department, where she previously acted as deputy Director (2014-2019), and as Director of the PhD program and the Master degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine (2011-2014).
