Annie is a doctoral student at the Institute of Environmental Science & Technology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain (ICTA-UAB). Her academic engagement with conservation and political ecology began in 2015 during her MA studies at the Institute of Development Studies (University of Sussex). In her PhD, she is investigating ideas within anti/post-capitalism as they apply to forest conservation practices. Her current empirical work is based in Western India.
Her aim is to conceptualise alternatives to conservation, simultaneously situating such alternatives within the wider systemic demand for an anti-capitalist transformation. Annie is from India and has previously worked there with non-profits on issues of social and environmental justice.
