The URNC is a social cognitive neuroscience lab at the Department of Psychiatry of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and at the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute.
The URNC applies neuroimaging, neuropsychological and metabolomic techniques to study the neural and psychological dimensions of fundamental social phenomena, including the adaptations for motherhood, altruism and pro-sociality, and how these processes may be disrupted leading to mental health conditions. The URNC has published in Nature Neuroscience, JAMA Psychiatry, American Journal of Psychiatry, PNAS, among others.
At present, the group has the following active research lines: Adaptations for motherhood during pregnancy and the postpartum period; mental disorders during pregnancy and the postpartum period, and social neuroscience of group dynamics.
The group has an active ERC Advanced Grant, one “la Caixa”  Foundation Research Health, a Horizon Pathfinder, a FIS and a Retos I+D.
