Transnational Relations, Democratization and Migration (TransDeM)

Organisation profile

Organisation profile

The research group on Transnational Relations, Democratization and Migration (TransDeM) is a new group that draws on ongoing collaborations among an interdisciplinary and highly international group of researchers. Our overall joint research objectives centre on how local and national processes of democratization and development are located in dynamics of transnational relations related to migration, diffusion, and globalization/Europeanization. We draw on a broad range of research methodologies and work across projects related to both democracies and non-democracies. Over the next years we will be implementing ongoing projects, led by both senior and junior group members, incl. the ERC  Consolidator project MIGRADEMO, and also defining new projects to advance scientific knowledge on the comparative study of democratization and migration in a transnational perspective, strengthen the international excellence of these research lines, and inform both scientific and broader public debates.
