El grup de recerca desenvolupa recerca en producció i nutrició de monogàstrics i remugants, i en el comportament i benestar animal. Les línies estratègiques de recerca responen als interessos dels investigadors i a les inquietuds del sector productiu i la societat, que son:
• Avaluació nutricional de ingredients i productes: Estudi de l’aplicació de productes o ingredients en la digestió o fermentació en el tracte digestiu
• Eficiència productiva i salut animal: Estudi de l’efecte de les condicions de producció, sistema d'alimentació o maneig de l’alimentació sobre la producció i salut animal.
• Qualitat i seguretat alimentaria: Estudi del impacte nutricional o del maneig sobre la qualitat del producte final destinat a consum humà
• Benestar i comportament animal: Valoració del benestar animal i desenvolupament d’estratègies per millorar-lo.
• Interacció, nutrició i medi ambient per desenvolupar estratègies de mitigació de l’impacte mediambiental de la ramaderia.
