El nostre Grup utilitza un enfoc multidisciplinari per l’estudi de l’estructura, la funció i
l’agregació de proteïnes. Pretenem conèixer com aquests fenòmens es relacionen amb un conjunt
de patologies humanes que inclouen malalties neurodegeneratives com el Parkinson, patologies
rares com l’amiloïdosi familiar, així com malalties causades per agents infecciosos com
Plasmodium i Micoplasma. El nostre objectiu és desenvolupar sistemes de diagnòstic i
aproximacions terapèutiques innovadores per cadascuna d’aquestes malalties, atacant de manera
específica les conformacions proteiques que les causen. Les tècniques emprades inclouen
bioinformàtica, biofísica, cristal·lografia de raigs-X, disseny de lligands, crio-microscopia
electrònica, proteòmica, biologia molecular i cel·lular i tècniques per a l'estudi de molècules
individuals.
