Organisation profile

The G2R is a multidisciplinary group of research and development, made up of 13 members from the Animal Science Unit of the UAB. This group was consolidated for 5 consecutive periods (last 20 yr). The G2R activities focus on livestock ruminant species (cattle, sheep, and goats) and its aims are the study of the biological, technical, economic and environmental processes modifying the efficiency and sustainability of ruminant farms under the natural and
socioeconomic scenarios of Catalonia and Spain. These aims are addressed by scientific and practical approaches, using laboratory, experimental farm, and on-field research conditions.
The G2R maintains intensive national and international relationships as well as extension activities for the transfer of knowledge to stakeholders.
The G2R has 4 working groups: 1) Fodder resources and natural environment, 2) Production systems and product quality, 3) Performance recording and traceability, 4) Selection and conservation of ruminant breeds.
