Organisation profile

Organisation profile

GReLA is an interdisciplinary research group centred on the study of the acquisition and use of English in contemporary multilingual contexts from a comprehensive and a multifaceted perspective. It incorporates researchers working from complementary theoretical and methodological approaches, i.e. corpus linguistics; discourse analysis; qualitative and ethnographic research; experimental and quantitative designs and classroom-based research.

GReLA’s main research lines are (a) the study and formalization of meaning through the analysis of real linguistic phenomena as collected in written corpora; (b) the acquisition of English as a foreign language in formal instruction and CLIL/EMI contexts by children, adolescents and adults; and (c) sociolinguistic, cultural, political, discursive and ideological aspects of the learning and use of English in diverse multilingual and transnational settings.
