Enginyeria de Dispositius Electrònics / Electron Device Engineering

Organisation profile

Organisation profile

Our group focuses on the characterization, modeling and simulation of electron devices,
contributing to the development of Key Enabling Technologies, with impact in areas such as
healthcare, smart mobility, digital industry and communications, thus fostering the knowledge
transfer. In particular, we focus on low-power devices required for IoT distributed/portable
systems, new computing paradigms that merge memory and logic and push semiconductor devices
towards quantum technologies, artificial intelligence and cryptography. Our concrete activities
include: (1) the mitigation and exploitation of variability and noise in CMOS and emerging
devices; (2) the characterization and compact modelling of memristors for the circuit
simulation of large artificial neural networks and in-memory logic; and (3) the simulation of
emergent devices based on 2D materials for quantum technology, thermal/electronic management
and silicon/graphene hybrid circuits targeting RF electronics.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. Our work contributes towards the following SDG(s):

  • SDG 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy
