Organisation profile

The Physics Department is the institution in charge of promoting and organizing teaching and research in Physics, at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).

Regarding pedagogy, the Department schedules and coordinates teaching in the knowledge areas of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Material Science and Industrial Metallurgy, Electromagnetism, Applied Physics, Atomic, Molecular and Nuclear Physics, Condensed Matter, Geophysics, Theoretical Physics and Optics, according to the requirements of the centers, schools and departments at UAB, and following the teaching plan of the University. The Department also organises and develops Masters degrees, postgraduate studies and PhD programs.

As a basic research unit, the Department promotes and supports the investigation initiatives and activities from its academics.
