The Department of Telecommunications and Systems Engineering was created on 19 December 2001. It is attached to the School of Engineering of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is located on the Bellaterra and Sabadell campuses. It comprises the areas of knowledge of Signal Theory and Communications, Systems and Automation Engineering and Transport Engineering and Infrastructures.

In the field of teaching, it coordinates the teaching in areas of expertise on the different degrees of the School of Engineering, organises and offers Master's degree courses and participates in the coordination and offer of an interdepartmental PhD programme.

The department promotes and supports the research and knowledge transfer activities and initiatives of its academic and research staff.
