The Center for Theoretical Linguistics (CLT), a Research and Studies Center at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, has as its goal the study of language and natural languages from both theoretical and experimental perspectives. The researchers who make up our group work within the fields of syntax, semantics, phonology, morphology, lexicology, pragmatics, acquisition and diachronic variation to study the universal properties of language as well as patterns of microvariation across languages in order to better understand how languages are internally structured and processed.

  • Research lines:
  • Study of the universal properties of language.
  • Identification of micro-level patterns among natural languages, paying special attention to the grammatical analysis of Romance languages.
