Biogeografia funcional i Resiliència d'Ecosistemes Terrestres (RESET) CREAF-UAB

Organisation profile

Organisation profile

Our group aims to better understand the functioning and dynamics of terrestrial ecosystems, and especially forests, in order to predict their response to global environmental changes and the resulting impacts. To do this, we focus on the study of: (i) functional traits as measurable attributes that can help us characterize and model the response of ecosystems, (ii) the biogeography of species considering their bioclimatic context, (iii) resilience and the monitoring of changes in the composition, structure and functioning of ecosystems, and (iv) the characterization of the functional diversity of ecosystems using molecular and metabolomic tools. These studies combine different approaches and scales, including observational and experimental work in the field, theoretical developments, the compilation and analysis of large databases using bioinformatics and big data tools, remote sensing and process-based modeling.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. Our work contributes towards the following SDG(s):

  • SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being
  • SDG 4 - Quality Education
  • SDG 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation
  • SDG 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy
  • SDG 10 - Reduced Inequalities
  • SDG 13 - Climate Action
  • SDG 15 - Life on Land
  • SDG 16 - Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
