Resum

Two cases of volar metacarpophalangeal joint dislocation are reported. A review of the literature indicates that open reduction is the most common treatment for this type of injury. The two cases presented here, however, suggest that conservative treatment using closed reduction can be satisfactory. Dorsal luxation of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb is an uncommon injury, but volar dislocation is extremely rare. When Moneim in 1982 described the first case in the English-literature, only eleven cases has been reported. The purpose of this paper is to present two additional cases of volar metacarpophalangeal joint dislocation of the thumb treated successfully by closed reduction.
