Vivir de la tierra. Organización, conflicto y cambio en la Cataluña agraria : la Unió de Pagesos, 1973-1979

Founded during the late Franco's dictatorship, the Unió de Pagesos (Peasants Union) was one among other experiences of unitary trade unions of the period. Despite its nonpartisan policy, its construction was mediated by the centrifuge dynamic which affected the anti-Francoist forces as a whole during the years of the transition to democracy. The union reached 1979 as one of the few surviving unitarian trade unions. This paper proposes to explore its origins, construction and consolidation in the political change context, of which it was a fundamental agent in the Catalan countryside
