N2 - Vasculitis is an inflammation of blood vessels, that usually presents as palpable purpura, nodules or necrotic lesions, and can be associated with several extracutaneous manifestations of systemic involvement. Etiologic factors include infections, drug reactions, neoplasia, autoimmune disease and paraproteinemia. We shall review the classification of cutaneous vasculitides, their main pathogenetic mechanisms and the basis of their diagnosis, which requires the integration of clinical, pathological and analytical data.
