Variantes histológicas infrecuentes del leiomioma uterino

Resum

OBJETIVE: To review uterine leiomyoma histological variants rate in our field, and to describe clinical manifestations, surgical treatment and prognosis for this pathology. DESIGNE: Review pathological diagnosis from hysterectomies due to myoma by laparoscopic or laparothomy approach prognostic way, and from endoscopic myomectomy (hysteroscopic and laparoscopic) or laparothomy myomectomy developed at HUM La Fe Gynecological Service from April 2003 to May 2005. RESULTS: 8 cases were found: 5 cellular leiomyoma, 2 bizarre leiomyoma and 1 mitotically active leiomyoma. Clinical manifestations and treatments were different, in some patients myomectomy was developed, in others hysterectomy. Only there was suspicion of malignancy in one case. CONCLUSIONS: These variants have a benign behaviour and the therapeutical indications are the same as common leiomyoma. We always have to diagnosis pulmonary leiomyomatosis in case of celular leiomyoma.
