    Resum

A group of 16 patients with monilial infection among 2,180 patients seen during a period of 2 yr in an Intensive Care Unit is reported. This represents an incidence of 0.7%. The 'soil' (patients with severe organic disease, prolonged sepsis, intestinal removal, etc.) and iatrogenic factors (parenteral feeding, prolonged catheter usage, antibiotic or corticosteroid therapy) were found. It is important to emphasize the monilial infection because its appearance in severely ill patients causes a high mortality rate, which according to various authors ranges from 60 to 80%. General mortality rate in the outhors' series was 62.5%.
