The dramatist Michel Vinaver (1927) is one of the most important personalities of contemporary French theatre. His writing is unusual and very original. Fundamentally, its singularity lies in the polyphonic structure of the dramatic text which is distinctively marked by a strong rhapsodic drive, as Sarrazac (1981) would say. In Les travaux et les jours(1929), Michal Vinaver introduces us in the everyday life of the frm Cosson, its employees and its clients. The author relies on this professional universe for showing us the interrelationship between the private and the individual sphere and sociopolitical and economical life. The reader - spectator of a jumbled words weave that shapes the action- is forced to move into a cacophonic space and to construct a story. The goal of this paper is to present the linguistic and textual strategies used on the one hand to distort reading and on the other hand to provide with the verbal material that allows for the referential continuity.
