The Athenians break with Rome and the fact that they formed an alliance with the Pontic side during the conflict is full of unresolved questions, such as the changes in Athenian politics or the way in which Sulla sieged the city, as well as the later destruction of Athens by Roman troops. Nevertheless, a lot of these questions have been answered with arguments that may now be reviewed in a new light.
