Resum

Saturated absorption spectroscopy in the high-contrast regime is studied in the case of optically thick gas samples presenting two different saturation resonances, distinguished on the basis of their nearly degenerate transition frequencies as well as of their transition dipole moments and homogeneous halfwidths. The possibilities to reveal spectral characteristics of a transition line otherwise hidden by a closely lying resonance are determined. © 1993.
