Summary. A case of renal zygomycosis due to Absidia corymbifera in an heroin addict suffering from AIDS (phase IV C2) is described. Diagnosis was by histopathology after nephrectomy, but A. corymbifera was isolated several times from urine and from the exudate from a fistula in the surgical wound. After amphotericin B treatment (1.5 g overall dose) clinical cure and negative cultures were obtained. No relapses were observed until death 1 year later from Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia. Zusammenfassung. Es wird über eine durch Absidia corymbifera bedingte Nieren‐Zygomykose bei einem Heroinabhängigen AIDS‐Patienten (Stadium IV C2) berichtet. Die Diagnose wurde histologisch nach Nephrektomie gestellt. Absidia corymbifera konnte mehrmals aus Urin und aus dem Fistelexsudat der chirurgischen Wunde iso‐liert werden. Nach Amphotericin B‐Behandlung (1.5 g Gesamtdosis) wurde klinische Heilung und Negativierung der Kulturen erreicht werden. Bis zum Tod des Patienten an einer Pneumocystis carinii‐Pneumonie ein Jahr spater wurde kein Zygomykose‐Rezidiv beobachtet. Copyright © 1993, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
