Resum

Host encounter and host compatibility are the main hypotheses proposed to explain uneven patterns of parasitism (Combes 2001; Gue´gan et al. 2005). These hypotheses suggest, respectively, intrinsic differences in exposure to infestations because of, for example, behaviour or ecology and uneven responses or ‘tolerance‘ to parasites as a result of, for example, behaviour or immunology.
