N2 - In the present study, the methodological designs and diagnostic instruments used in the estimation of the prevalence of eating disorders among general population are revised. The advantages, inconveniences and biases associated with the use of each methodological procedure are shown. The inherent difficulties attached to the estimation of eating disorders prevalence are also presented. Lastly, we propose some methodological advises in order to study accurately the prevalence of eating disorders among general population. © Intern. Jour. Psych. Psychol. Ther.
