Political change rushes in, 1974-1977. A view from the Basque Country

With the development of historiography on the process of political change leading to the institution of parliamentary democracy in Spain in 1977, socio-political mobilisation has come forward as a key factor for understanding the failure of the reformist projects which started to take shape inside Franco's regime from the time when arias navarro became prime minister. on the basis of a plentiful and largely hitherto unpublished documentation, stemming both from the government and the opposition, the article portrays this process from the standpoint of the basque Country, an area where mobilisation played an essential role.
