Resum

In this article, we review the intervention from a gender perspective in the field of drug dependence. From the bibliographic review we carried out, it is clear that the gender perspective is understood and applied mainly to specific programs for women with drug problems. The results suggest that the gender perspective has been little developed in the context of drug dependence, so there is no operationalization of how to apply it in programs, and it is very common to associate this concept with programs designed specifically for women. For this reason, public policies lack gender mainstreaming, and its implementation in programs/interventions is difficult to sustain over time. Nevertheless, progress has been made in the characterization of the profile of drug-dependent women and in the description of practices that are proving to be effective.
