N2 - For its 11th biennial conference, held in Barcelona on 22-23 September 2017, the International Association for Planning Law chose to address the issue of architectural heritage, sites and landscapes coming under Planning Law. This book is the result of the proceedings of the conference. A general introduction aims to define the scope and issues of the chosen topic. The book then presents a series of thematic reports on the extent of the protected heritage, the actors involved in the protection, the instruments aimed at protecting the integrity of and enhancing the existing heritage, and on the financing and tax mechanisms devoted to the protection of the architectural and natural heritage. A specific Spanish report accompanies each thematic report, while a summary report defines the main lines of thought. The book then continues with a series of thirteen national reports that formed the basis for the thematic and summary documents. These reports concern (in alphabetical order) Belgium (French en Flemish-speaking communities), France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, the United States of America and Turkey, and include information on the state of the national law in question for each addressed topic. A report on the EU law completes the national overview.
