Resum

Open reduction is considered almost mandatory, because soft tissue interposition is usually the norm. Soft tissue interposition can be inferred with the physical examination. Methods: We present the case of a 41 year old man with a palmar dislocation of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb in which we achieved a satisfactory closed reduction. Closed reduction was successful. Instability of the radial collateral ligament was identified.
