Resum

The book addresses the aesthetic dimension of ecosocial conflict by presenting diverse examples of creativity that, as narratives of resistance, aim to re-establish socio-environmental justice in a place that has been damaged. It thus analyses artistic expressions that combat and reveal the subtle mechanisms by which the toxic is expanded, hidden or made invisible, in a broad sense and from different perspectives. The first chapter deals with the aesthetic dimension of a movement that between 2011 and 2014 opposed the project to exploit an open-pit gold mine in the region of Bergantiños and the Costa da Morte (Galicia). The second chapter sheds light on various audiovisual and musical productions (rap and punk) linked to lindane contamination in the town of Sabiñánigo (Huesca), the Iberian epicentre of the anti-lindane mobilisation and culture. The third chapter deals with the dialogue that has been established for decades between the political, economic and literary narrative and the practice of ecological sheep farming in Mallorca. The book adopts diverse methodologies from the environmental humanities, especially those linked to social movements, environmental history, environmental justice, ecocriticism and zoocriticism, and is of interest to a wide range of audiences interested in art, ecology and protest.
