Resum

The crystal structure of [Bu<inf>4</inf>N][lr<inf>2</inf>(mdcbi)(CO) <inf>4</inf>]·CH<inf>2</inf>Cl<inf>2</inf> (H<inf>3</inf>mdcbi = 2-methylimidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid) shows a new type of stacking in which the two iridium atoms of the binuclear complex are both involved in extended metal-metal chains at nearly identical distances.
