Resum
Trade union organisations took on unquestionable social and political prominence during the nineteenseventies, in both Italy and Spain. This article tackles the analysis of trade union action in a comparative perspective, observing the emergence from the nineteen-sixties of new types of syndicalism in Spain and Italy which had many points of contact with each other. In spite of the political setting being radically different in Italy and Spain, there were on one hand grounds for conflict in common in many aspects, and on the other, certain cultural and political references encouraging the boosting of a new type of syndicalism which was not seen in such nearby countries as France. During the nineteen-seventies, CCOO and the Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro (CGIL) had an intense relationship, also characterised by marked empathy. Both cooperated in the seventies in the wish to modify the framework of international relations in agreement with a decentralising and anti-bureaucratic union action model.
