Maria Dolors Orriols or the inner revolt

© Patronat d’Estudis Osonencs From 1949 to 1992 Maria Dolors Orriols i Monset (Vic, 1914 - Barcelona, 2008) published seven novels and two collections of short stories. Come the new century and she published her memoirs ‘Escampar la boira’ (2003). She was a member of the first generation of post-war novelists and as well as her press writing she translated, was professionally involved in the art world and wrote and re-wrote the abovementioned works alongside other that remain unpublished. Despite having staunch supporters, her novels and narratives —now either out of stock or discontinued— have attracted little critical interest. Here, we propose a (re)reading of them.
