Resum
Artification in the strongest sense is a phenomenon that goes back to Duchamp and his ready-mades. I propose to understand these processes as “cognification” processes, in which any non-cognitive object or action is transformed into a thinking device. A classic example is the discovery of a shoebox by Gabriel Orozco at the 1993 Venice Biennale. The recent artification of research shows that artistic research projects, in addition to being tools for reflection, can convey a genuine knowledge of the facts. Two examples are proposed, one by the German artist Hito Steyerl and the other by the international group Forensic Architecture.
